SHINDIG!, the signature fundraising event for the Sanctuary on 8th Street, will be bigger than ever this year as we "Tailgate!" at the Garden Club of Jacksonville on September 10th! Join our Honorary Chair, Delores Barr Weaver and Event Chair Karen Trammell and come out to support the Sanctuary.
The Jim Moran Foundation has awarded a three-year grant to the Sanctuary on 8th Street to support the Springfield nonprofit’s After School Academic program, announced Vicky Watkins, Executive Director. Under the terms of the grant, the Sanctuary will receive $22,000 each year through 2012.
The Sanctuary on 8th Street has received a $1500 Legacy Grant from the Junior League of Jacksonville, announced Sanctuary on 8th Street’s Executive Director, Vicky Watkins. The grant funds will be used for a school curriculum for the 2010-2011 Sanctuary Home School program. Created in 2007, the SanctuarySchool is a home school for elementary and high school age children who attend the other Sanctuary programs and have been retained in public schools.
Patricia D. Barksdale, Assist U.S, Attorney in the U.S. Attorney’s Middle District Office has joined the Board of Directors of the Sanctuary on 8th Street, announced Mark Rosenberg, Board Chair.
