  About Us

History

In response to the changing needs of the neighborhood, the Presbyteryof St. Augustine and the former Springfield Presbyterian Church openedthe doors of Urban Ministries of Springfield in 1992. In 2001, our name was changed to the Sanctuary on 8th Street after we relocated to the historic post office building.  The program has grown from an after school program with a dozen children to over 100 children in our three programs which have now include summer camp and a home school.
